Meet Our Ministerial Staff
Pastor Ryan B. Small
January 1, 2017, Reverend Ryan B. Small was appointed Pastor Elect, as the Pastor Emeritus, Reverend Lewis S. White began his retirement. Reverend White was the first to pastor Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Ryan Small was installed as the Senior Pastor of the Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church on September 10, 2017. Pastor Small is married to First Lady Bridgette Small, and they have four children, Ryan Jr., Briahnna, Monique (Sam), and Sylvia (Rae and Journey).

Pastor Small formerly served as the Youth & Young Adult Minister, and on the musician staff of True Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Inglewood, California under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. James A. Perkins.
Pastor Small is the 1st Vice President of the Progressive Baptist State Convention of California (PBSC); 2nd Vice Moderator of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Association of the PBSC; and a member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America – Los Angeles Chapter.
Pastor Small served on the Board of Directors of the Southern California Chaplains’ Association as their law enforcement liaison; serving Police, Fire, Military, Hospital, and Correctional chaplain, and is a past president of the organization.
Pastor Small graduated from the University of Southern California Delinquency Control Institute, Union Institute & University of Cincinnati, Ohio (Bachelor of Science); and Woodbury University (Masters of Arts); and Police Executive Research Forum's Senior Management Institute for Police ~ Boston University.
Reverend Carl Calhoun
Beginning as a door keeper in the house of the Lord, Rev. C. Reginald Calhoun Sr. soon accepted his call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Licensed at the age of 26, under leadership of Rev. E. V. Jernigan, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Calhoun embarked upon his preaching ministry of which has lasted nearly 40 years.
He first served as assistant pastor at the New Birth M.B.C. Also, during his gospel ministry, he has served 14 years as pastor of the King David Missionary Baptist Church and 2 years as interim pastor for the Church of Divine Guidance. For these past 23 years to the present, he has labored on the ministerial staff of the Greater New Jerusalem M.B.C., now under the pastoral guidance of the Rev. Ryan B Small.
Rev. Calhoun married Kathleen Calhoun in November of 2017. He is the proud father of 4 married adult children; Carl Jr., Zanell Adia, Joshua Caleb, and Kenneth Derrick. He is also the joy filled grandfather of 6 wonderful grandchildren (4 girls and 2 boys). Rev. C. Reginald Calhoun's favorite scripture is Ephesians 2: 8-9, "For by grace you are saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
His favorite song is, "I Am on the Battlefield for My Lord." Lastly, Rev. Calhoun's determination in Christian living is simply to proclaim the Kingdom of the Father..to share the life of the Son...and to bear witness of the Spirit. As he can often be heard singing...I promised Him that I would serve Him 'till I die. I'm on the battlefield for my Lord.
Elder Lillie Walls
Elder Lillie Walls was licensed as an Evangelist in 2002 and ordained as an Elder in 2008.
She attended the Southern California School of Ministry where she has earned a Certificate in Ministry, an Associate Degree in Ministry and a Bachelor of Theology Degree graduating Cum Laude. One of her goals is to become a Chaplain at the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Born in Port Gibson, Mississippi and later moved to Los Angeles; Elder Walls and her Husband, Vonz’a (Von - Zay) have three children.
Elder and Brother Walls also serves within their own ministry, “God Has Not Forgotten Ministries,” where they give assistance to the elderly and physically challenged.
Elder Walls is pursuing a degree in Psychology and is a Certified Life Comforter (Grief Counselor.)
Reverend Dr. Coston "Jack" Charles III
Reverend Charles has served as the U.S. Army chaplain captain since 2014.
Charles received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University in 2002.

In 2008, Charles received his Clinical Pastoral Education from UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA.
He was awarded his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Azusa Pacific University in 2010.

In 2013, Charles went on to be awarded his American Baptist Ordination from the American Baptist Churches of Los Angeles and Congregations of the Southwest & Hawaii.

Reverend Charles is married to Syleah Charles and they have five children; Amylah, Isaiah, Christian, Jacob, and Micah.
